From the 15Malaysia, there were three short film we watched - Lollipop , Duit Kecil , Meter
Lollipop is the first short film we watched. Synopsis of official website : A haunting portrayal of a pedophile preparing to hunt, interspersed with metaphors on the state of Malaysian politics.
Before further searching about what the messages of this short film is going to tell us, I just watch it according to the story line. The guy is doing his "private job" in the short film which I found this is very uncomfortable. and the job he was doing was very distracting me from watching the story actually. LOL

| What did I just watched? >__< |
Actually I am not the person that always care about political issue in Malaysia. For this blog's purpose, I did check for some information about what the news broadcast in the short film. It's about Perak Constitutional Crisis which was the war between Perak's Menteri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir and former Menteri Besar, Mohammad Nizar. Based on my knowledge, it was the war between BN and PR. After government announced that Zambry became Menteri Besar of Perak, members of PR jumped and rejected the announcement. They think that this decision was incompatible with democratic principles and protest it. (Wikipedia)
Then, Nizar appeal to the court and court announced Nizar as the rightful Menteri Besar of Perak. Zambry However, the end of this incident was the Court of Appeal granted a stay of the High Court Judgement, and Zambry returned to work. (Wikipedia)
From this above, I still don't understand why is this related to pedophile. >_< But this is all about the power one manipulating the weak one right? Just like the issue of Perak, Lollipop is showing how an adult use his/her status (opinion leader) to control the kid in the video. We can do nothing.
For the second short film named Duit Kecil and this is the synopsis of the short film : A man finds himself without small change in a cheap brothel. Many arguments ensue and problems faced by the Malaysian common man are discussed humorously. This short film is more on the social issue faced by Malaysian. From this short film, it shows that a Malay actor is going to brothel and no small changes after done their job. Leaving aside from the small changes matter, I guess most of the people know that Malay in Malaysia should be in Muslim as they don't have any choices since they were born. This is a label for Malay. Malay = Muslim, and we always talk about Malay instead of Muslim when things come to religion. I know that they cannot have any activity that is against their religion such as prostitutes, gamble or drink alcohol. However, clearly from this short film, the man is going to brothel and isn't this against his religion? There were even Malay being prostitute in the short film. Am I too conservative? Oh well I just think that they are doing something they shouldn't.
Now the topic changes to small changes matter, I think this related to economy nowadays. Everything is getting expensive but the salary is not going up too. Most of the fresh graduates are afraid of cannot get their job and the officer scare that they are losing their job. In the short film, they talk about food and taxi in Singapore are cheap to eat and easy to get.
In addition, currency exchange rate of Singapore dollar is higher than MYR so I think this is the main problem that many young adults chose to have their job in Singapore and caused Malaysia losing talented person. If I have a skill that both companies from Singapore and Malaysia need but Singapore side appreciate me more, why don't I just go? This will be a good experience for me.
Last short film is Meter : The controversial head of UMNO Youth plays a taxi driver who is asked his views on some current Malaysian talking points. He ends up offering a keris to a Chinese boy as a gift. The main actor in this short film was the head of UMNO Youth, Khairy Jamaluddin. He is the minister of Youth and Sports and also the son-in-law of former Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
In the short film, he acts as a taxi driver and responses to an interview in the taxi.
For the first question in the interview - BIGGEST PROBLEM IN MALAYSIA?
People are aggressive. LOL He even punched the passenger when he heard that the passenger supports Chelsea. Hey bro, you don't have to do this actually. Just try to make Malaysian football team be better and make him to support Malaysian team at the end. LOL
He pointed out that local football and the football players in Malaysia are lack of football spirit and not enough of energy. From my point of view, I think that Malaysia is weak in sports except badminton.
When any sports competition related to badminton, I guess most of the Malaysians are concern in "Dato Lee Chong Wei's WIN or LOSE". He is a good athlete that we cannot deny, but don't you think that we are too focus on one? Are you just going to win the men's single and lose the other such as men's double, mixed double, women's single or even other sports like table tennis? I guess Dato Lee was facing lots of stresses when he is taking competition because besides of the eyes in the stadium, there are thousands pair of eyes are looking at him from the monitor. Our public holiday is depends on his performance. LOL From this, I really think that Malaysian need to focus more on sports activity, discover more talent when they are young and train them well and become another legend of Malaysia.
HOW ABOUT ENGLISH?
English is an international language as what we know. In the short film, Khairy also stated it. However, when a passenger spoke in English, he get mad and scold the passenger. He is just taking a stone and throw onto his foot. LOL
For me, they are afraid of changes. They scared that if all Malaysians learn English in the future, Malay language will lost their position in the heart of Malaysians. Yes, Malay language is a nation language that we cannot deny. But they put it as "too" priority in our life. Everyone thinks that their mother tongue is sacred, me too. However, I don't think learn more than one language is a bad things for my future. This is also the advantage we live in multi-racial country too right? We can learn different languages and get use to others' culture.
I was born in 1995 and seems like 1995s' experienced lots of education changes. When I was in primary school, I remembered that after me, my juniors have to study Science, Geography using English. (If I'm not mistaken since this is about 10+ years ago LOL) After that, my juniors are going to use Malay language to study Science in secondary school as government changed their education policy AGAIN. Addition, secondary school students nowadays need to pass their History subject at least a C to get a SPM certificate and luckily this is after me. Pheww...
During general election, people will vote for the candidates they think that he/she can help them in the future. In the past, people just like my parents vote for party they get used to. They never change their vote towards SAME party since the first time they vote. They said they are afraid of changes and scared that they will get into trouble if they vote different from others. Nowadays, most of the voters are young adults and they will know more story behind the candidates from the internet. This will affect their decision on voting. They vote candidates based on person, not party.
Recently, I visit to a exhibition with the title Young Malaysian Artists. In this exhibition, I found an artwork that is very interesting. Najib Ahmad Bamadhaj is the artist of this art work and he wanted to express his displeasure and dissatisfaction towards local politicians who are untrustworthty, rather than helping person who is helpful for their politic path in the first place. They will manipulate citizens' thinking by giving unrelated information regards to the matter.

Now, lets get back to the history happened in 1987. "Operation Lalang" was a major crackdown that carried out by Malaysian police, ostensibly to prevent the occurrence of racial riots in Malaysia. 106 persons were arrested detained without trial under the ISA (Internal Security Act). Basically, this was a war between Malay and Chinese. During the operation, our current Prime Minister, Najib Razak was alleged to have threatened to soak a keris in Chinese blood. (Wikipedia)
The last part of the short film, Khairy gave keris to the Chinese guy. A lot of keris LOL
but Do you know that keris is the logo of UMNO? and Khairy is the head of UMNO Youth?
Okay, my brain is over-functioned now.
